The Transition Academy had an exciting year of growth and change. As we reflect on 2023, we’re proud of the impact we’ve had on the lives of young people with disabilities as they leave high school and embark on the next phase of life, either in their college or career journey.

Kim Riley Wins Two National Awards: EALA AND SURGE
TTA Initiative Awarded PCORI Grant: Work on 2 Year Research Project with Partners Begins
TTA releases groundbreaking report focusing on transition-aged youth with disabilities in Jackson County and meets with parent leaders to discuss a special education alliance.
TTA in the classroom update: our social services team coordinated many activities such as VR goggles, bus tours, and in-class speakers.
KC DiversAbility College and Career Fair Continues to Grow
2023 Marked the second year for the KC DiversAbility College and Career Fair. Both vendors and attendees continue to rave about the fair, which is the city’s only metro-wide event focused on connecting young people with disabilities to supports, services, employers, college recruiters, and job training programs.
