TTA's first metro-wide college and career fair: media coverage
The Transition Academy (TTA) hosted its first-ever KC DiversAbility College and Career Fair on April 14th, 2022. This ground-breaking effort brought together college recruiters, employers, entrepreneurs, and benefits experts all under one roof to help people with disabilities see the possibilities in their future. The fair earned several media mentions both before the fair took place and afterward.

TTA founder Kim Riley was featured on Up To Date with Steve Kraske. The interview covers Kim’s inspiration for The Transition Academy, and how she and her son struggled to find a good fit for him after high school. She felt students with disabilities needed more support transitioning out of their life within the school system, which is the only world they’d ever known. The segment also features interviews with two students who found their own paths. Johnny Gordon went to college and is in a teacher residency and Jonah Taylor’s dad Tony talked about helping him start his own vending machine business.
