Celebrating Representation: The Transition Academy Honored at the Impacto Changemakers Awards
Revolución Educativa presents Kim Riley with the "Representation Award"
The Transition Academy founder and CEO, Kim Riley, has once again proven why she is a force for change. At the second annual Impacto Changemakers Awards Ceremony, hosted by Revolución Educativa, Kim was presented with the Representation Award.
This honor shines a spotlight on Kim’s forward-thinking leadership and her commitment to creating an organization that truly reflects and values the diversity of the communities it serves. By championing bilingualism, biculturalism, and authentic representation, Kim has shown a commitment to creating an organization that is an inclusive space. Her work underscores the importance of ensuring every voice is heard and every identity is celebrated.
The Representation Award is more than an accolade; it is a testament to Kim’s dedication to fostering belonging. RevEd applauded the fact that Kim didn’t just approach RevEd and seek their expertise, she doubled the size of her team to include bi-lingual and bi-cultural team members. This was to ensure that TTA is providing youth in the Hispanic community with the special education support they deserve.
“This means so much to me,” said Riley. “I am so excited to not only get this award but also be a part of forming a black and brown alliance to support and uplift our children.”
This recognition also aligns with the core mission of Revolución Educativa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the Latino community through education.
The Impacto Changemakers Awards, inspired by the legacy of César Chávez, highlight individuals and organizations driving social change for immigrant families and Latino youth. César Chávez, a towering figure in the fight for justice, believed in creating equitable opportunities for all..
Ivan Ramirez, Director of Community Engagement at Revolución Educativa, said the event honors and uplifts the unsung heroes in our community who work to create change but don’t get the recognition they deserve.
Kim Riley’s receipt of the Representation Award reminds us that leadership rooted in representation is not just impactful—it is essential. Congratulations to Kim Riley and The Transition Academy team for this well-deserved recognition.
